Summit Pointe is committed to helping you live your best life.

In fact, it’s our mission to enhance the lives of everyone that walks through our door—and it shows. We’re one of only three assisted living communities in the state of Iowa to receive the Silver National Quality Award by the National Center for Assisted Living. What does that mean to our residents? We consider every aspect of senior living, from enriching activities and social opportunities to warm, caring memory support.

Good news about memory loss.

Did you know that about 40% of people aged 65 or older have age-associated memory impairment—that’s about 16 million people in the U.S. The good news is that only about 1% of them will progress to dementia each year. There’s more good news: in many cases, memory loss may be reversible. Some medications, for instance, can cause memory loss. A change in medication may be a change for the better. Nutritional deficiency can also be a cause of memory loss. Adding nutritional supplements to your diet can also boost memory. Of course, always speak with your doctor before changing your medication or supplement regimen. The Mayo Clinic also states that you need to keep your mind active just like you need to keep your body moving. Consider crossword puzzles, paying bridge, taking alternate routes when driving.

Great care for memory loss.

Summit Pointe’s memory support program can also play a big part in your care—if and when you need it. We offer a very cozy 12 rooms dedicated to memory care, whether Alzheimer’s, dementia or other forms of memory impairment. Our beautifully landscaped, secure outdoor courtyard is easily accessible for residents. And, our warm and welcoming country kitchen and several niches invite residents to  continue to stay active. At Summit Pointe, memory care residents can live rich, fulfilling and dignified lives with interaction and activities designed around them.
