Summit Pointe is owned, developed and operated by Guardian Companies, a company based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our owners, John and Arlene Malinski, pride themselves on setting Summit Pointe apart from other senior living communities in the area as well as focus on family values. That is why you’ll see our hot air balloon out and about and why we offer so many unique features.

We work hard to ensure that you keep your hobbies alive and provide a range of enriching activities and social opportunities. Our mission is to intentionally enhance the lives of everyone that walks through our door, whether that’s a tenant, their family or the mailman!

Summit Pointe has won numerous awards based on our quality of care including our most prestigious awards which are the Bronze and Silver National Quality Awards. These awards are given by the National Center for Assisted Living and Summit Pointe is one of only three assisted living communities in the state of Iowa to receive the Silver National Quality Award.

Let us introduce you to our amazing leadership team. We strive each and every day to provide great care to our tenants.

Sara Kuempel

Executive Director

As the Executive Director at Summit Pointe I have the pleasure of working with people every day! I feel incredibly blessed to spend the majority of my time working with our tenants and developing our staff to best serve the community. I grew up in the Chicago-land area and went to school at the University of Iowa where I received my BA in Finance and Marketing. Before Summit Pointe, I worked in the Beverage Industry for 6 years and realized my passion for working with people. Now I have the ability to use that passion aiding you or your loved one in making Summit Pointe your new home. In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking and spending time with my family. My husband and I live right here in Marion and have 2 sons.

Joshua Campbell

Director of Sales and Marketing

As the Marketing Director at Summit Pointe I truly believe that your family is our family. On a daily basis I have the opportunity to help mom and dad transition to their new home here at Summit Pointe. I grew up in a small town outside of Dayton Ohio before moving to Columbus shortly after graduating high school. I began 20+ years in sales and management. I live right here in Marion and really enjoy the small town friendly atmosphere the close knit community brings. In my spare I enjoy spending time with my kids, biking the local trails, fishing and when possible, spending time on a beach soaking up the sun.

Kate Stevens

I began working as a CNA at 16 where I discovered my passion for working with seniors, then went on to nursing school and joined Summit Pointe in 2009. I live in Kalona with my husband and 6 dogs. I enjoy playing with my dogs, swimming, rollerblading and playing cards.
