Meet Our Staff

Christina Bricker, Housing Director A resident of North Liberty, Iowa, I have over 16 years experience in the long-term care field, with the past three years focused on assisted living. All my past experience includes memory care. My experience ranges from managing nursing care at a facility to managing all aspects of existing facilities. I am married with four children. Working with seniors has always been a passion ever since caring for my Great Grandmother during a lengthy illness. She lived in our home as I was growing up. I truly enjoy the one on one time spent with the residents discussing their lives, where you develop a sense of history and what their generation had to endure to allow us to have the quality life we enjoy today. All residents I have met are special to me and have become an extended part of my family. I am excited to be a part of the Summit Pointe team and look forward to enhancing the quality of life for all residents here.
Kim Smith, Marketing Director I just love being with seniors! And, my job at Summit Pointe allows me to spend time with our residents. I'm also very grateful that I get to spend time with new visitors and help them with their senior living choices. Before I had the opportunity to join Summit Pointe, I worked for another senior living community for seven years. My background also includes experience with a home health company and nursing training. I am very excited to be part of Summit Pointe. It is a wonderful community offering everything for senior living—all in a warm neighborhood environment. I look forward to meeting you, too!
Nancy Dean, Office Manager Managing the business office at Summit Pointe is Nancy Dean. Nancy is retired from a high-pressure position as production control manager at a manufacturing company. “The residents here and the staff are so nice and gracious—I love helping them!” Nancy has three boys and three grandchildren. "Spending time with the grandchildren and my dog keeps me busy."
Brandy Boer, Health Services Director I am originally from a small town in the eastern part of Nebraska (Go Huskers!). I moved to Iowa in November 2001 to attend nursing school. I worked at an assisted living facility in Cedar Rapids as Director of Nursing for a year and a half. I really enjoy working with the elderly and wouldn't change it for the world. I live in Cedar Rapids with my husband Greg, and two step-children, Gabriel and Erika. I can't forget my dog Pebbles, who is spoiled rotten. I enjoy music, reading taking Pebbles for a walk, and having fun with family and friends.
Kristine Beisel, Concierge I have always enjoyed working with seniors. I grew up in an extended household and was blessed by the experiences with my senior family. Before coming to Summit Pointe, I worked in the medical field; first for Medicare and then in medical billing. The people here at Summit Pointe are just like family. It is such a great pleasure to see them every day.
Darcie Sowada, Co-Activities Director I was born in Colorado where I lived until I moved to the state of Wyoming in high school. I attended the University of Wyoming and graduated with a degree in Speech Pathology. My husband and I moved to Cedar Rapids and have lived here for 26 years. We have two sons, Matt and Justin. In the past two years, I have been volunteering and working in senior care centers in the area and have earned my Activities Dierctor Certification and Certification in Montessori-based programming for dementia. Improving quality of life for seniors, as well as learning from them, has been a wonderful experience for me. I am so grateful to be oart of the Summit Pointe team!
Cathy Weber, Co-Activities Director I grew up in Cedar Rapids, graduated from Iowa State, and have lived in Marion for the past 20 years. My husband and I have three grown adult children. I have taught aerobics for 20 years and have spent the last four years teaching classes for senior care centers in the area. I owned my own business helping seniors with daily living tasks and recently sold the business to allow me to spend more time at home and on the golf course. I love volunteering in the community and look forward to joining Summit Pointe residents and staff in their efforts to make a difference in the life of others.
Mark Boies, Chef I have been in the food industry since 1985. I have worked in corporate dining facilities in the Midwest for most of my career. I enjoy meeting new people, cooking new items adn receiving feedback so we can serve what the residents like. I am married and have two two boys. In my free time, I like to stay active with my family.
Kate Reilly, RN I was born and raised on a farm in Ames, Iowa and attended Gilbert High School. I began working as a CNA at 16 and I graduated from nursing school in December of 2008. I worked in Iowa City 6 years, and am very excited to be here at Summit Pointe. I live in Iowa City with my three dogs; a Chihuahua- Kourie, a Blue heeler/boarder collie mix- Sasha, and my St. Bernard- Chance. I enjoy playing with my dogs, napping, swimming, rollerblading, and playing cards-any pinochle players out there? I look forward to meeting all of you, feel free to stop in my office and say Hi!
